Calmed Ears 02:52
It's OK You can believe me he says It's OK To let your hair fall down and down and down Crowded mother Now she's living barely in her scattered fair play ways No one listens to what she hears or what she says. Believe in country sides And be here when the winter dies And see her in the summer time. It's OK To be felt up by the roads inside your mind It's OK To break the eyes that hurt you without words. Falling backward, broken back-cracked little dog they say You will be remembered if only you do just what they say. Believe in country sides And be here when the winter dies And see her in the summer time. (c) 2011 John Cooperider/Jeff Petersen

Right in my eyes I feel no book answer I'm looking at the phone. What you say is your laugh And I'm sinking in my eyes. (Looking away) Backing away eyes closed down to the ground It steps in my way in my front door. Finding the way Is some glorious day (Backing away) I'll never know just what you said. (I know) (c) 2011 John Cooperider/Jeff Petersen

His empty clock face just wasn't right Now they're walking away with my eyes Take fat steps to avoid ice puddles That are scattered in my brain Bad ears glimpse another step And a breath And they are blowing away in the wind again Anyone could see your faded looks I slip and I trip And be-lie myself away. Eyes don't remember his corner lingering smile On your back steps The brittle face of a nation baled in wire Has now glimpsed your death. Tears hurt themselves Falling from their cliffs And no, you can't rejoice And you can't be the big bad cat that you wanted And you can't rejoice And you can't fall around And feel the earth smile like a baby And you can't rejoice. But I may not remember to be Your sad eyes in the morning So your smile flies and hurts my head For wanting to shake my sad eyes away. Tears hurt themselves Falling from their cliffs And no, you can't rejoice And you can't be the big bad cat That you wanted And you can't rejoice And you can't fall around And feel the falling earth smile like a baby And you can't rejoice. Bought you Bright eyes like streams flowing with the pleasure Sought to be In the remembrance of you. To fall Ourselves away in the dance and pleasure To begin What the edge of the earth thought was the end. Bad thoughts are flight so easily gained they say. Tears get tripped up on what must smile-Me. Into the happy again. Into sea stars begging birds All alone in a simple world. Into the happy again All alone in your simple world. See the silly ways in which you break your own face. Difficult- Editions of your life are bound by vulgarities A floppy face is lying to the sun and weather today. If I ever loved it would be so hard to tell. Into the happy again. Into sea stars begging birds All alone in a simple world. Into the happy again All alone in your simple world. She sold me some flowers And now she's dancing here in a trance Tricking and all were twice removed From our existence All clouds in the syrup of the river Look brown today If you listen the flowers do talk They have sold themselves At least that's what they say. Like a lover would and should We are all trying to find our corner In a bottom centered circle. If you believe they can amaze your thoughts A thrilling day is their week and time is a watch A small dog barks at three different brides The blades of grass say they're bored of green So they sprout to purple Like a lover would and should We are all trying to find our corner In a bottom centered circle. A lonely hill breeds it's fear of being all alone Into it's sand and quiet dusty enfolds the warmth of lovers Sameness is now a thought, all flowers in a field They all talk among themselves And now you wish you were them. Like a lover would and should We are all trying to find our corner In a bottom centered circle. (c) 2011 John Cooperider/Jeff Petersen

Silence 02:25
The streets plead, they aren't sullen - just tired, deprived and sad They can take the blood from you words But it's not meant to harm you They initiate and bring into the worlds a being out of another inside of someone Concentric voodoo eyes circle and birth is in the hand A knife is a silvery toy A gun A razor-blade across the thin wrist skin No "We raised you; we saved you from hell." Eyes glare down "We helped you to who you are and now you are a street corner, street lamp. you are we - the street." All lost in a maze of sad movies Drifting over rooftops and scaring pigeons away (c) 2011 John Cooperider/Jeff Petersen

One Wet Shoe 01:55
Standing there in indecision I can see it in you eyes Walking around with my head in your hands and I didn't realize. What you said was pass the butter What you really meant to say is I'm getting bored with you. From the middle of my mind Love is hard to find Can you really see me now Or have you gone to hide? Now I've got the whole world to see and I see it's mostly seas They have all overflowed and covered over me. What you said was pass the butter What you really meant to say is I'm getting bored with you. In the middle of my mind Love is hard to find Can you really see me now Or have you gone to hide? I get up in the morning now and I see that I'm not me What happened to this world because now I can't believe What you said was pass the butter What you really meant to say is I'm getting bored with you. Maple leaf don't slide away with the rain to bring yourself down You say you want to dance in the park place and find some fun thing they're calling you say Don't drop, you won't rise that way so you grow with the tree Your color browns today maple leaf the sun shines on like a smile in the rain Escape asks you to dance the informal dance of the antwalk You leave with his hand in yours and now you hope you'll find it all Now you're losing some distance You're down in a satisfying way It's today and I see you in the sky whose face is reflected on the mirror water of the lake (c) 2011 John Cooperider/Jeff Petersen

Taken Away 01:41
And if the bride's smile kisses you You wander gravely to your cave Rotted teeth Now who are you Begin it again You're speaking faith No little ape can breath in you who partake In love life Won't you believe you're life And take a wife. Sauntered by loving lines Now spiced cake is falling into your face Falling faith Begs you like the stars And now your eyes are Seeking to taste No little ape can see you clearly Now you're going home Won't you believe you life And take a wife. (c) 2011 John Cooperider/Jeff Petersen

Purposes 02:35
Wandering moldy pathways of dust and trees all happy with the sun Frustrating the ground and walking me away from you Did you break rules in the broken treads fell and turned all poison Me was the accidental you and hate makes sense when I'm lonely Did you become scared when he showed you your picture Why oh why ask why and you will never know Over and over it's a babbling force Wandering moldy pathways of dust and trees all happy with the sun Frustrating the ground and walking me away from you Did you happen by and gorge yourself upon slow decisive me Me was the accidental you and hate makes sense when I'm lonely Did you become scared when he showed you your picture (c) 2011 John Cooperider/Jeff Petersen

I've lost my faith in everything gone right I've lost my mind which has the broken field built in Along the positively saddened boundaries We're coasting alone The fruitless worlds are sported in, sported in. Cast you the branches Lost the remembrance Time is now today, time is now See life as life See dreams as me Cut down the big willed walls and be me Oh, see me. Cast you the branches In the backfields you are the fastest The time is now today, cast you the branches. In the third day we cry, piled on eyes In looks too big to see Filed down days and lonely ways are keeping me apart, me apart. See life as life See dreams as me Cut down the big willed walls and be me Oh, see me. I've been inside the smallish green ball of myself I've taken bad walks to the dust I see the real evidence from you It's backing me down this road again, backing me down Into time with breathers of lust Hold with this objective trust I've been in this time now Time is now today. See life as life See dreams as me Cut down the big willed walls and be me Oh, see me. Time is now Time is today Time is the feeling of furrowed face as sun passes days away Hold with this objective trust Into time with breathers of lust I've been in this time now Time is now today. Time is today. (c) 2011 John Cooperider/Jeff Petersen

about

The band zeusbunch was an acoustic offshoot of my first band at Michigan State University; Self Righteous Bastards (also known as SRB). Some of the songs Jeff and I were writing were not really suitable for a late 80's loud alternative band, so we started putting them together for a separate project. This didn't go over well with one of the other members of SRB...

These songs were written and recorded in 1989 with very primative (cheap and available) means. I linked two normal cassette decks together, with a $20 Radio Shack 4-channel mixer. We'd record one guitar and vocals and then swap the tape to the other deck. Then as we played that tape, we would add another track. This would be repeated until we had everything recorded.

One problem with this set-up... each time we switched the tape, the recording would speed up a little. The songs we ended up with sounded faster and higher than what we started with. We loved it though and started playing a bit around town at small alternative venues.

I've taken the original masters and corrected the speed to what it should have been, but these are very primitive multi-track cassette recordings... so don't expect high fidelity. :)

about

ZeCoop Kalamazoo, Michigan

I love playing music and keep learning new instruments. My songs are in a wide range of styles, from indie-rock to surf, to folk to rock to electronic... I never know. I record at home in a studio I put together in a spare room. I work (via the web) with a lot of vocal/lyric collaborators from all over the world.
