lyrics

A Worker's Song

He sits upstairs in a big swivel chair
He's nice and cool, in conditioned air
We’re sweatin’ down here at 109
Not his concern, says I got mine

He’s got it all, no pick and choose
The man don’t wear no steel toed shoes

Walks right by and he don’t look back
He off to the bank with all his jack
We bust our butts for minimum pay
How bout a raise, he says “maybe someday”

If my kid’s sick, well that’s no excuse
The man don’t wear no steel toed shoes

He drives right in, in a big old Cadillac
My beater’s rusty, bald tires in back
He goes up to Ireland, Mexico, France
I can’t even buy a new pair of pants

He’s having fun and counting the loot
The man don’t wear no steel toes shoes

I’d quit this job but what the Hell
Nobody’s hiring that I can tell
Gotta keep humpin' in this stinkin' place
I got no choice in the old rat race

The man don’t care if I win or lose
The man don’t wear no steel toed shoes

about

ZeCoop Kalamazoo, Michigan

I love playing music and keep learning new instruments. My songs are in a wide range of styles, from indie-rock to surf, to folk to rock to electronic... I never know. I record at home in a studio I put together in a spare room. I work (via the web) with a lot of vocal/lyric collaborators from all over the world.
