about

music: @zecoop
lyrics/vocals/recorder: @jeustan

jeustan says: When zecoop reached out, I knew I wanted to do something Michigan related to celebrate my first collab with a fellow 'Gander. Inspiration: tinyurl.com/t9r3jf3x.

ZeCoop: I had loved jeustan's music and he's from just down the highway from me, so I really wanted to write a song that would work for him. The first wasn't it (but worked out for someone else - the way these things do), however the second one stuck and I just *love* the vibe and the story. There's so much emotion and history wrapped up in this song and the vocals just sound amazing. I wasn't aware of the story, but am always happy to learn more Michigan history - thanks for the lesson and the song!! :)
(this also used #zecoopdrums number 8)

ZeCoop played:
Lucero classical guitar
Breedlove Atlas Stage D25 6 string acoustic
Dean EAB acoustic bass
1973 Ludwig Hollywood drums

lyrics

one foot on the bow
one stretched to the promised land
yon is that a storm or a rover?
far from port she was carrying ore,
she'd been sunken twice before
the Bad Luck Barquentine
going down alone

as the Union sailed on by
the crew of the Nucleus left behind
they hailed, they were denied
bad luck barquentine, bad luck barquentine

sleeping like a bear
on the floor of the big lake
the load that broke their backs and their shovels
there's no gold or captain's bones
they left her on her own
the bad luck barquentine
left her on her own

about

ZeCoop Kalamazoo, Michigan

I love playing music and keep learning new instruments. My songs are in a wide range of styles, from indie-rock to surf, to folk to rock to electronic... I never know. I record at home in a studio I put together in a spare room. I work (via the web) with a lot of vocal/lyric collaborators from all over the world.
