about

ZeCoop: The music for this amazing song was written by my brother Rob and Liz Frencham - I am so glad that I could be a part of it. I knew as soon as I heard him playing the guitar part it how much power it had. I wrote and played the bass part and did a lot of the engineering/mixing. I threw a lot of ideas for arrangement at him and I think it worked out wonderfully!! And then Liz joined. WOW. I am blown away, every single time I get to work with her!! :)

The notes from FAWM are below:

@fearlessflight2014:
Thanks John & Rob - I LOVE this beautiful piece of music. When I heard it first the chorus just jumped out immediately. But the rest of the lyric was like pulling teeth. I completely wore my voice out trying to get the words out. Why are simple concepts so hard to write about? Anyhow, this is my last writing act for FAWM 2023 and since I've done 17 collaborative tracks this year THIS song seems like an appropriate one to go out on.
GuateCoop: ZeCoop and I have been hanging here at my house for several days and we just come up with whatever, whenever. We pretty much pursue anything that comes up. This one was just one of those that came out and we went with it. I was thinking that it would end up being more of an intricate song with woven guitars, but didn't end up that way. I'm happy with it though. It is super fun to be able to do this with my brother! Sadly, he has to head back home....
ZeCoop: I was engineer for some of this one, pushing record and throwing in some instrumentation ideas. The bass part was fun to figure out and came pretty quickly. We both had a fun time mixing the huge amount of stuff on this one. There are a lot of guitar strings!!

guatecoop played: Agile Harm through a Vox AC15, 6 and 12 string acoustics, and drums
zecoop played Harley Benton P-bass, had a lot of arranging ideas and mixed the crap out of the song.

lyrics

I, thought I could conquer life
Alone without a tribe
I, a mythic figure
On the mountaintop I’d climbed

Scared to surrender control

I, eggshell ego
My opinions all nailed down
I, felt so much safer
Thinking I had figured it out

I, an island
In the ocean of my pride
I, a lake of longing to belong
Stuffed down inside

Scared to open up to anyone

One by one we crawl
Yet two by two stand tall
Three by three we’ll stride
Together side by side
But one by one we’ll fall

We, friends, family
Hope-fueled singing loud
We, dance together
make a joyful, fearless sound

We, spirit siblings
See us glow like fireflies
We, began as ripples
Now there’s waves of love on the rise

Empathy is a superpower
Saves us from ourselves

One by one we crawl
Two by two stand tall
Three by three we’ll stride
Together side by side

One voice lost at sea
Yet two make harmony
Come let’s make a choir
Let's set this world on fire

I don’t think I can make it on my own anymore
I don’t wanna make it on my own anymore

about

ZeCoop Kalamazoo, Michigan

I love playing music and keep learning new instruments. My songs are in a wide range of styles, from indie-rock to surf, to folk to rock to electronic... I never know. I record at home in a studio I put together in a spare room. I work (via the web) with a lot of vocal/lyric collaborators from all over the world.
