Rock Star

I bought myself a used guitar
I think I'll be a big rock star
It looks like it'd be easy to do
Just plunk a couple notes and yell out “Oooooooohhhhhhhhh”

Bought a guitar book by old Mel Bay
It guaranteed it was the easiest way
It said that you’d be playing well by June
Teach you the chords and how to tune

Somehow I think ol’ Mel is lyin'
And I’m getting really sick of tryin'
To get my fingers on the strings
And sound like much of anything

I really thought I’d love this guitar thing
And earn myself a pile of bling
But I'm thinking that I might just quit
'Cause it seems to me that Mister Bay
is really just full of...
(Should I learn to play piano?)

Maybe I can simply learn to sing
At least you don’t have to hold anything
Just belt it out real loud and strong
In a pair of tights and hair real long

I can see me now up there on the stage
Singing, dancing, not looking my age

And I’m up there smiling in pants too tight
I can see myself as a big rock star
Maybe I should learn to play the guitar...
