Survival (ft Wobbie Wobbit)

about

I wrote the music first, starting with drums and working from there, based on a collaboration suggestion from Liz Frencham. Wobbie Wobbit (England) then wrote lyrics and vocals to go along with it. I added a few sound effects at the start for fun... :)

This is the story of a dog, from the dog's perspective, of how hard it is to survive life at home without its owner. Also in the story is the cat, who may or may not be responsible for everything. You decide.

Big thanks to the super wonderful Wobbie (and her dog Cheesy!) for such a fun song... I had a great time working with her and mixing it.

lyrics

Owner
"Right... won't be long. You be good. You be a good dog!"

Dog:
With that, you walk out of the door
You're not coming home anymore
You've just up and left and just abandoned me
Never to return I'm sure
Now I'm all alone in the flat
Just me and the cat
When I was a pup I was a street dog scavenger
What can I get at?

Now you've gone, it's all about survival
No time to sit around and cry
I cannot count on your arrival
You've just left me here to starve and die

Right... let's have a look in the bin
There's a bag with some leftovers in...
Let's spread it out and see what we are dealing with
I can get more out of that tin!
You think that loaf of bread is safe there?
I can reach it if I jump on the chair
I can get the lid off a peanut butter jar
But I can't reach up there, it's not fair!

Now you've gone, it's all about survival
No time to sit around and cry
I cannot count on your arrival
You've just left me here to starve and die

(a plot is devised)

Ooooh... crunchy-munchy cat food!
Let's eat it all now
You don't know where your next meal is
We might be dead by then

Now I hear the click of the door
I thought that you were gone forever-more
Look what the cat did, he's such a naughty boy
Can I have biscuit?? - for the trauma...

about

ZeCoop Kalamazoo, Michigan

I love playing music and keep learning new instruments. My songs are in a wide range of styles, from indie-rock to surf, to folk to rock to electronic... I never know. I record at home in a studio I put together in a spare room. I work (via the web) with a lot of vocal/lyric collaborators from all over the world.
