Cross The Ocean (4-track cassette)

from FAWM 2018 by ZeCoop

/

about

Started by Alex Klages in Canada, who sent a guitar part via e-mail to Martin in England ( Alex is still working on getting a 4-track). Martin added Alex' guitar to a cassette tape, then added bass. The tape then was mailed to the US where Rob and John added their parts.

This is an actual cassette that was mailed around to four different FAWMers via snail mail. Each person added one track and mailed it to the next person. The song is a mystery to the participants until it is transferred to computer and mixed.

lyrics

I went across the ocean and then came right back
I started a mission to find a lost track
The tracks lead me somewhere but a mystery it stayed
Mem'ries and beauty of the miles I'd strayed

Wandering on
Paths left unclear
Stay on the journey
Leave all your fear
Wandering still, so much yet to find

Back to the pathways, and many more miles
Learning to deal with life's many trials
The song started forming as we added each piece
Instruments open, their music released

(Solo)

Each part together as part of a song
We all play as one, now it won't be that long
Melodies forming, the song and the story
A beautiful patchwork alive in its glory

The oceans seem smaller, the song now complete

about

ZeCoop Kalamazoo, Michigan

I love playing music and keep learning new instruments. My songs are in a wide range of styles, from indie-rock to surf, to folk to rock to electronic... I never know. I record at home in a studio I put together in a spare room. I work (via the web) with a lot of vocal/lyric collaborators from all over the world.
