One of the best times of FAWM for me, is when the songs I have written earlier in February start coming back from my musical collaborators... Holly is such an amazing artist as part of @santadharma (check them out!!!), and I always LOVE the songs we write together. When I experimented with reverse drums, this was the second song that came out. The bright synth sounds and the overall vibe of the drums really seemed well suited for her, and she agreed. She added her incredible lyrics, wonderful vocals and the sweet synth break in the middle. I am in love with how it turned out! 😀
Drums from my Volca Beats synth and my Ludwig drumkit were recorded into a Tascam 488mkII 8-track cassette player and transferred to the computer with the tape turned over.
Keyboards: Yamaha PSS170 for the bells and PSS470 through my Canyon Delay, MXR Chorus and Oceans 11 Reverb for the ambient sound throughout.
MIDI - TAL Noisemaker for the falling bomb sounds 😀

When I listened to this track, I got an image of being in nature in the morning when everything is so still and you feel as though you’re starting over. It’s such a lush feeling that completes you, but there’s a strand of melancholy to it too. A theme I’ve seen coming up over and over again in people’s lyrics during FAWM is how we realize nature is dying, but corporations and politicians are not doing enough to stop it. Thus this morning experience in nature is ephemeral, not only in the sense that most of us will have to go back to the daily grind/city soon enough, but also in the sense that someday the nature might not be there at all in this otherworldly, dazzling state. In these moments, I think we realize our own mortality and how much of our life we spend complicating things that are truly simple; we remember the importance of stillness and presence and embrace the minute details
