about

I shop at lot at Goodwill and Salvation Army and one of the things I was excited to find this year was a Hohner Melodica. I really like Joe Jackson and he played it on some of his early new wave albums and I loved that mix. I really wanted to write a song for it...

I wrote this on guitar, then added the melodica part, followed by drums and then bass. Another thing I loved about the early Joe Jackson Band albums was that although he had the standard guitar-bass-drums, Graham Maby's bass playing was put front and center on purpose, with the guitar as a background instrument a lot of the time. Since I started as a bass player in 8th grade, before I learned 6 string, I loved this.

So this turned out to be a very bouncy fun song that featured both the melodica and the bass guitar.

Instrument list (as I try to use everything)
Hohner "Student 32" Melodica
Silvertone 604 6 string acoustic (1960's)
Tacoma DM912 12 string acoustic
Fender Jazz bass
Ludwig Hollywood drum kit (1973ish)

about

ZeCoop Kalamazoo, Michigan

I love playing music and keep learning new instruments. My songs are in a wide range of styles, from indie-rock to surf, to folk to rock to electronic... I never know. I record at home in a studio I put together in a spare room. I work (via the web) with a lot of vocal/lyric collaborators from all over the world.
