Love Won't End (ft Alex Klages)

about

This is my third song recorded on my Tascam 488mkII 8-track cassette player. I'm really enjoying this experience and digging the limitation of 8 tracks and having to play complete takes.

It has a definite drive from the drums and the acoustic guitar parts I made up had a constant strumming that reminded me of a summer drive, perhaps with the top down, in a beautiful National Park. I have not yet been out West in the USA, but I have been to Acadia National Park in Maine and it is spectacular.

Super quick mix to get it out the door in one night, so I'll tweak this later. The topic and title may very well change as well, as Alex works his lyrical magic. 😀

Gear info:
1973 Ludwig Hollywood drum kit
Breedlove Atlas Stage acoustic 6 string
Tacoma DM912 acoustic 12 string
Eastwood Surfcaster electric 6 string, through a 1973 Traynor YGL-3 amp
Fender Jazz bass guitar

ZeCoop:
When I wrote the music for this one back in the middle of the month, it felt like a throwback to a time earlier in my life. More care-free and a journey. I liked it a lot and for different reasons it made me think of Alex, so I sent it over. We have written some awesome collaborations and more than a few times they have turned into amazing love songs to his wife @kellyk - As a person who's been married to my dream girl for 29 years, I always appreciate the warm thoughts and affection he puts into those song lyrics, and I am super happy this one turned into yet another! As the instrumental writer, I don't think of the melody of vocal when I am writing it, and this one was at the top of Alex's range, but he nailed it. So good and such a wonderful set of lyrics. I am thrilled we were able to collaborate yet again on one of the highlights of my FAWM!! 😀

Metalfoot:
Yeah, when in doubt what to do with a lyric for a song, write a love song to my wife is kind of my standard operating procedure, and it hasn't let me down yet. Thankful for her, thankful that ZeCoop keeps letting me sing on his beautiful songs, thankful for FAWM as an opportunity to just make music for a while. Life's got its ups and downs but the road is good.

lyrics

Life is like a winding road
Lots of twists and turns and then
You find someone who shares the load
The one who'll stay right to the end

We've had our share of ups and downs
It's not always been the greatest time
But you've always been my closest friend
Always given reason to my rhyme

I know that our love won't end
With the years it grows and grows

As we wander through this world
To wherever God leads on
I know that I can depend
That your love for me goes on

I know that our love won't end
With the years it grows and grows

as we watch our kids grow up
As we feel the weight of age
I am glad you are still here
as life turns another page

And at the end of each day
I reach out and hold you tight
I am thankful you're with me
As we fall asleep at night

I know that our love won't end
With the years it grows and grows
I know that our love won't end
With the years it grows and grows

about

ZeCoop Kalamazoo, Michigan

I love playing music and keep learning new instruments. My songs are in a wide range of styles, from indie-rock to surf, to folk to rock to electronic... I never know. I record at home in a studio I put together in a spare room. I work (via the web) with a lot of vocal/lyric collaborators from all over the world.
