Mirrored Descent

about

I came up with the main guitar part on the 19th and knew I wanted something in the shoegaze category, but wasn't sure what to add. I recorded the clean electric guitar (in stereo) through my Peavey Stereo Chorus and added a 12 string acoustic to give it shimmer, but then didn't like any of the louder guitars I tried to add. I sat down at the drumkit the next day and the drums sounded great, but still no more ideas for the guitars. It sat for a week while I did lots of other things.

Now that I have have most things at a good spot, I came back to it, and everything fell into place. I came up with the harmonic line that I loved and then a louder riff that played off of that. Maybe a guitar swell? YES! Guitar number four, but I still heard one more part to fill it out and added a fifth electric guitar. 😀
Bass was easy and instead of using a pre-amp, I ran it right into my Traynor YBA-1 bass amp and mic'd the cabinet speaker for a nice old school tone.

Oh and the name? The WAV form looked like two earth core drills to me, haha.

about

ZeCoop Kalamazoo, Michigan

I love playing music and keep learning new instruments. My songs are in a wide range of styles, from indie-rock to surf, to folk to rock to electronic... I never know. I record at home in a studio I put together in a spare room. I work (via the web) with a lot of vocal/lyric collaborators from all over the world.
