I got a small steel drum for Christmas from my wife and daughter and was looking forward to using it. I also have this toy piano that I love and thought they would go well together, so I laid down a beat with my Yamaha PSS-170 and composed on the piano, keeping in mind I had limited notes on the steel drum. It all worked and I finished it off with some Roland String Synth.

I really liked how it turned out and thought that the whimsy of it would be a good match for Holly, whose band Santa Dharma, is one of my favorites. She and her husband Tomo added lyrics/vocals and ukulele and once again, I was just blown away. I love how it sounds fun and eclectic, but has a real message that is very easy to relate to all over the world (unfortunately).

Aww shucks! Thank you @zecoop! Wish we had something more interesting to say, but we're a bit drained--had a massive earthquake here last night that really had our whole house shaking and we were about to evacuate, but luckily we're fine!

Anyway, back to the song. We heard the song and felt a melancholy tone, so we thought singing about quarantine and the ups and downs, finding the bright side (then trying to grasp onto it), just suited the songs and the aesthetics really well. Tomo decided to add in some ukulele and we did a take together, and that was that! 😀
