Snow Hymn

about

In 2017 I picked up a 1960's or 70's wind organ off of Craigslist for $20, in near mint condition, too! It was just sitting in someone's basement for years. It's made by Farfisa, who are famous for their Compact Combo-Organs (love those...), but this is a totally different beast. It is called a Pianorgan and it sounds a lot like an accordion, with a blower that pushes air through reeds inside the instrument. It has chord buttons, and single note bass buttons, as well as the keyboard.

I wrote the song using the chord buttons, first, then I added the bass notes. Finally, I added a melody and some harmonies. Lastly I filtered out the blowing air sound in GoldWave, because 8 tracks of air makes a lot of noise! I couldn't get rid of the clicking of the buttons, but I really wouldn't want to. You have to mic it right above the keys (or buttons, whichever you are recording).

about

ZeCoop Kalamazoo, Michigan

I love playing music and keep learning new instruments. My songs are in a wide range of styles, from indie-rock to surf, to folk to rock to electronic... I never know. I record at home in a studio I put together in a spare room. I work (via the web) with a lot of vocal/lyric collaborators from all over the world.
