Sweets

It must have started way back in time, right in the womb
A Hershey bar eaten in the waiting room
I’m talking about all the things that are so sweet
Like cookies and cakes and donuts and wonderful treats

I love to eat them all, the pies and shortcake
I’ll eat anything that’s freshly baked
Fruit or custard, chocolate, lemon or lime
I'll gladly eat them any old time

They're sneakin' up...

As the calories mount my self esteem sags
But I quickly reach for one more bag
Would you care for a piece of pie, oh yes indeed!
My guilt is filed away and I concede

They're sneakin' up...

Peddling like mad on the exercise bike
So I can eat all the wonderful things I like
Fifty minutes of toil, hard work and sweat
I haven’t even burned one cookie off yet...

Maybe my fate was sealed from the start
Baklava, sweet rolls, muffins and tarts
They'll keep me the same for year after year
A ring around my middle and an over-sized rear

They're sneakin' up...
