Well this was a super fun song! Rob and I love to collaborate and often will throw a part to the other to see what they come up with. This year, Rob thought it would be fun to have us BOTH play drums and BOTH play bass. And, since it's late and a third collaborator couldn't take part, why not have us BOTH play guitar too!!
So, what you have here is a musical conversation with ZeCoop on your left side and GuateCoop on your right (if you have your headphones on correctly). Here is the order in which this song was written:
ZeCoop drums
GuateCoop drums
ZeCoop bass (lower sounding bass)
GuateCoop bass (higher melody bass)
ZeCoop guitar
GuateCoop guitar
This was very different but super fun, and not nearly as difficult as it sounded like it would be. It was super fun playing off the music and coming up with parts. 😀

This is probably the most interesting and true collab that I've been a part of. It really went back and forth 6 times, and I still have to mix it better to do it justice, but just did a quick (it's 2am and I have to work in the morning) mix. This will be improved, but you get the idea.
After I got the first drums, I edited those into the song structure (zecoop was trying to be nice to me by leaving big spaces to work with, but I guess I like the pressure of less space) and put down my drums, panning his left and mine right....and back to him for bass with no clue where it was going yet. His bass definitely set the surf/spy tone and I'd never done one of those....ugh!! So, I went high on the bass to offset his lows and sent it back, but I might have said a few frustrated words while recording it. He is a real bassist... So, then I got his guitar at 11:20on or so, knowing full well that I should just go to bed and work on it the next day. NOPE! Finished it off (84 takes later) at 1:30am, just in time for a quick mix. I will fix the mix, but love the song. Definitely pushed me to do some things that I hadn't before.
Thanks @zecoop!!! Tremendous fun and brotherhood, too! FAWM is great.
I played my $50 drums (the best value ever), a 1960s Tiesco bass, and my 1980 SG through a Traynor YBA1 and a Vintage 30 single 12 inch cabinet.
