Trash Can Black Market (ft Steven Wesley Guiles)

from 2022 by ZeCoop

about

The music was written and recorded by me on Feb 11, onto an 8-track cassette via my Tascam 488mkII. The bass/drum instrumental was sent to Steve and he finished it up on Feb 14.

----------------

Steve: I say when life takes your trash cans and hides them, write a song about that actual true story event with a friend at FAWM that rocks.

ZeCoop: When I heard the sad true story of Steve's trash can being stolen (Police report... seriously?!?!) and heard him ponder whether there was a Trash Can Black Market somewhere, I knew that it HAD to be a song. I did my best to play some trashy energy on my drums and then added some more trashy groove with my bass... I am SO glad that Steve could use it to channel a little of the frustration into such a fun song!

lyrics

pre
some-one took my

chorus
black market trash magic
black market trash magic
black market trash magic
black market trash magic

v1
monday night, you know what that means
everybody here take out the black and greens
roll the blue can too, that’s the recycling
yeah everybody here knows what that means

v2
it’s tuesday know, and my blue cans gone
call the trash company, they said call the cops
i said, are you crazy? they said yes we are
so i called the cops and they sent a car but

i apologized to the cop that came
this is a waste of time
it’s a stupid game
yeah and the hardest thing about this song
it’s a true true story
‘bout a blue can that’s gone

about

ZeCoop Kalamazoo, Michigan

I love playing music and keep learning new instruments. My songs are in a wide range of styles, from indie-rock to surf, to folk to rock to electronic... I never know. I record at home in a studio I put together in a spare room. I work (via the web) with a lot of vocal/lyric collaborators from all over the world.
