about

"The Redhead League" is an album by Leslie Hudson that features songs about red-headed female comic book characters.

Troublemaker: Meet the new and vastly improved Teela [He-Man & the Masters of the Universe : DC Comics]...

Written as a solo piano/vocal song during FAWM 2016 by Leslie Hudson, she let me add whatever i wanted with the track and I came up with a huge production. It was so fun working with Leslie that I helped out on three more songs for her amazing album "The Redhead League". The entire album was written, recorded, and submitted for mastering in 30 days! Many FAWMers contributed to the tracks.

lyrics

I was never very far
From being on my own
From growing up alone

I just never had the time
For people my own age
I always turned the page

Blood and magic in my veins
You don’t know how it pains me knowing
Flood unfathomed it remains
And when I think it wanes
It’s flowing

I didn’t ask to be a sorceress-child
Whose mother was to secrecy sworn
I chose the colour of my hair
To match my temperament
‘Cause I was born a troublemaker

I take after my old man
I learned to use a blade
‘Cause warriors are made

I will fight until I fall
But I will never tire
My will is my desire

Mud is ground into my skin
The clothing that I’m in is bloodstained
Crud from everywhere I’ve been
And every gallant win
So untamed

I didn’t ask to be a sorceress-child
Whose mother was to secrecy sworn
I chose the colour of my hair
To match my temperament
‘Cause I was born a troublemaker

I have never been afraid
To stand against the crowd
To speak my mind aloud

I have never been a maid
A damsel or a prize
I don’t do well with lies

Why did you not tell the truth?
I never asked for proof, I trusted
You may sigh whenever I’m aloof
But don’t blame it on youth
It’s rusted

I didn’t ask to be a sorceress-child
Whose mother was to secrecy sworn
I chose the colour of my hair
To match my temperament

No, I never asked to be a sorceress-child
Whose mother was to secrecy sworn
I chose the colour of my hair
To match my temperament
‘Cause I was born
I was born a troublemaker

Credits for "The Redhead League"
The Redhead League is a concept album based on 9 female redheaded comic book characters: Red Sonja, Medusa, Teela, Jean Grey, Mary Jane Watson, Scarlett, Poison Ivy, April O'Neil & Black Widow.

They're not superheroes or supervillains. They're passionate, powerful and occasionally poisonous so don't piss them off. They've got swords and guns and prehensile hair, telekinesis and martial arts expertise, lipstick lips and latex, and they don't mind getting their hands dirty.

Based on characters by Marvel, DC Comics, Mirage & Dynamite (Gail Simone)

FAWM is an annual international songwriting challenge to write 14 new songs in the 28 (or 29) days of February. The Redhead League was written and collaborated on from February 16-29 with final mixes completed by March 16. That's an entire album from inception to submission for mastering in 30 days made possible by the collaborative fire of these far-flung FAWMers:

about

ZeCoop Kalamazoo, Michigan

I love playing music and keep learning new instruments. My songs are in a wide range of styles, from indie-rock to surf, to folk to rock to electronic... I never know. I record at home in a studio I put together in a spare room. I work (via the web) with a lot of vocal/lyric collaborators from all over the world.
