guatecoop:
My brother, @zecoop, has been here for the weekend and it has been GREAT! So great. I love hanging with my brother in any way, but especially when we can write and record music.
He asked me to record a drum track (as in, make it up and record it on the fly....) on his cassette 8 track recorder. Well, I did with his help and then we wrote this song based on that structure and rhythm. I played my favorite guitar (and first)--my SG through a Traynor YBA1. So fun.
What a great finish to a great weekend! Enjoy.
ZeCoop:
Yep, a fantastic weekend full of long nights and loud noises (and ringing ears, maybe). So good to dedicate time with him and my parents. Rob and I write so differently that it sometimes seems at the start we won't come up with anything. Most of the time, though, it suddenly pops and we have something that was unexpected to both of us. This was true here for sure. , and although my idea of recording everything on the 8-track didn't happen (since I haven't used the 8-track since last FAWM and forgot some things), it still was great. We played bass and guitar live at the same time to finish the song. An awesome way to end the weekend although I am sure we'll collaborate more this February. I played my Fender Jazz bass.
In the town we grew up in, when I (ZeCoop) was in junior high, whenever someone wanted to have a fight, they'd say, "Behind the Armory, after school". Next to the Junior High was the venerable old armory building and there was a walking trail with lots of tree cover behind it, and that's where the fights would be. I was a shrimpy studious kid and never was a part of that (and Rob was in kindergarten at the time so get didn’t fight either, lol) but you often heard that from the fighting/bully kids...
