Chucks
Verse1:
You can keep all the fancy leather wear
I wouldn’t put them on 'cause I don’t care
You have to put on paste to give a pretty shine
I don't fool around with shoes of mine
I never worry I’m a fashion flop
I’ll just stick with my old Chuck high-tops
Chorus:
Chucks (my Chuck high tops), my Chucks
I'll never stop wearing my Chucks (my Chuck high tops)
My Chucks, nothing compares to Chucks
Verse 2:
Love my house and pets and two good cars
Got boats, and toys, and great guitars
Most people say I’m lucky, in clover
And that I’m blessed over and over
But the thing that brought me the most luck
Had a circle on the side with the name of Chuck
(Chorus)
Bridge:
All-Stars..... My All-Stars...
First made in 1917
They give my feet a double shot of caffeine
I think I'll buy enough to fill up a trailer
I send a shout out to Chuck Taylor...
Verse 3:
Got a beautiful wife and nice kids too
Can do the things that I wanna do
I can’t complain, I’d do it all again
With little or nothing much to change
But the thing I’d really hate to lose
Are my favorite, bright red, high top shoes
(Chorus)

I Want

I Want
I want to see the world at peace
I want more justice for the least
I want more food for kids to eat
I want an end to graft and greed
I want to see the least be free
I want all water to be clean
I want clean and pretty shores
I want rivers to adore
What do you want
Tell me what you want
I want good to spread afar
I want cities like a shining star
I want happiness for you
I want all these things and soon
What do you want
Tell me what you want
We all want the same thing, all the same things that you do
If you want to change your world, it's gotta start with you
I want joy in all the land
I want money in a worker’s hand
I want a cure for all disease
I want more than just a tease
What do you want
Tell me what you want
We all want the same thing, all the same things that you do
If you want to change your world, it's gotta start with you
We all want the same thing, all the same things that you do
If you want to make a difference, it's gotta start with you
Don't wait, just do.

Wild

Wild
When I was a boy, at just about 3
My folks saw something strange in me
Every kind of bug I could find
Was really cool in my young mind
As years went by, this just expanded
To mice, crawdads, and snakes all banded
What freaked out everybody else
To me was just nature's wealth
You don’t really know of boyhood glee
'Till your snakes have babies, 23
(it was more like 33, but don't tell my mom and dad)
Now all grown up and I've become a man
I still like catch critters if I can
And even if it’s not for all
When I’m with creatures it’s a ball
You don’t really know of boyhood glee
'Till your snakes have babies, 43
When you give them to your closest friends
It usually means that friendship ends
I now have three snakes, one called Grace
And they all have the run of the place
Now you may think that this is so wild
I still like what I did as a child
But it all worked out pretty well for me
Now I work in biology
You don’t really know of boyhood glee
'Till your snakes have babies, 53
When you give them to your closest friends
It often means the friendship ends
And I lost a lot of friends, but I gained some new ones too
And they were all wild...

Meanies

Meanies
Does it make you wonder as you sit and ponder
What it is that makes some folks so mean
Do their shoes pinch on their toes or maybe, heaven knows
Their undies are unclean
If we dared to chance and gave a wedgie to their pants
Would it make a change in their position
Having shorts that ride way up their butt
Who knows, it might just change their disposition
Meanies of this world
Are trying hard to get their flag unfurled
Meanies of your town
Hey meanies, you won't keep us down
Whatever makes it so we sure wish that it would go
And make a nice man of this meanie
We’re looking for change of heart – any measure
Of improvement, even teenie
If there is a change of heart, we would take it for a start
Not tomorrow but today
We’ve all put up with quite enough of people gruff
They need to change their ways
Meanies of this world
Are trying hard to get their flag unfurled
Meanies of your town
Hey meanies, you won't keep us down
Maybe if we smile and try friendliness a while
He will join the human race
Wouldn’t it be cool if this old, bitter fool
Could put a big grin on his face
Meanies of this world
Are trying hard to get their flag unfurled
Meanies of your town
Hey meanies, you won't keep us down
Hey meanies, you can't keep us down
Hey meanies, you'll never keep us down

Rock Star
I bought myself a used guitar
I think I'll be a big rock star
It looks like it'd be easy to do
Just plunk a couple notes and yell out “Oooooooohhhhhhhhh”
Bought a guitar book by old Mel Bay
It guaranteed it was the easiest way
It said that you’d be playing well by June
Teach you the chords and how to tune
Somehow I think ol’ Mel is lyin'
And I’m getting really sick of tryin'
To get my fingers on the strings
And sound like much of anything
I really thought I’d love this guitar thing
And earn myself a pile of bling
But I'm thinking that I might just quit
'Cause it seems to me that Mister Bay
is really just full of...
(Should I learn to play piano?)
Somehow I think ol’ Mel is lyin'
And I’m getting really sick of tryin'
To get my fingers on the strings
And sound like much of anything
Maybe I can simply learn to sing
At least you don’t have to hold anything
Just belt it out real loud and strong
In a pair of tights and hair real long
I can see me now up there on the stage
Singing, dancing, not looking my age
The people are cheering and lighting their lights
And I’m up there smiling in pants too tight
I can see myself as a big rock star
Maybe I should learn to play the guitar...

Sweets
It must have started way back in time, right in the womb
A Hershey bar eaten in the waiting room
I’m talking about all the things that are so sweet
Like cookies and cakes and donuts and wonderful treats
I love to eat them all, the pies and shortcake
I’ll eat anything that’s freshly baked
Fruit or custard, chocolate, lemon or lime
I'll gladly eat them any old time
They're sneakin' up...
As the calories mount my self esteem sags
But I quickly reach for one more bag
Would you care for a piece of pie, oh yes indeed!
My guilt is filed away and I concede
They're sneakin' up...
(Bridge)
Peddling like mad on the exercise bike
So I can eat all the wonderful things I like
Fifty minutes of toil, hard work and sweat
I haven’t even burned one cookie off yet...
Maybe my fate was sealed from the start
Baklava, sweet rolls, muffins and tarts
They'll keep me the same for year after year
A ring around my middle and an over-sized rear
They're sneakin' up...
(Apple, berry, pumpkin, custard, strawberry and then a rhubarb)
They're sneakin' up...
(Cookie, cream puff, coffee cake, éclair, soufflé and then a crêpe)

A Worker's Song

A Worker's Song
He sits upstairs in a big swivel chair
He's nice and cool, in conditioned air
We’re sweatin’ down here at 109
Not his concern, says I got mine
He’s got it all, no pick and choose
The man don’t wear no steel toed shoes
Walks right by and he don’t look back
He off to the bank with all his jack
We bust our butts for minimum pay
How bout a raise, he says “maybe someday”
If my kid’s sick, well that’s no excuse
The man don’t wear no steel toed shoes
He drives right in, in a big old Cadillac
My beater’s rusty, bald tires in back
He goes up to Ireland, Mexico, France
I can’t even buy a new pair of pants
He’s having fun and counting the loot
The man don’t wear no steel toes shoes
I’d quit this job but what the Hell
Nobody’s hiring that I can tell
Gotta keep humpin' in this stinkin' place
I got no choice in the old rat race
The man don’t care if I win or lose
The man don’t wear no steel toed shoes

A Man Named Anaphora

A Man Named Anaphora
Sneaking ‘round in my parent’s house
Trying to act like a brown field mouse
I went far into the yard, I was mad and keeping my guard
I met a man named Anaphora
He was big on fauna and flora
He wore a suit with a flower design, not a single thing like mine
On his head he had a fedora
This strange Mr. Anaphora
Sticking out of his covered cranium was a red geranium
He was different
He was strange
He was not at all what you’d expect to find in the modern age
His shoes were also very odd
They were covered up by sod
And in this earth were plants you see, daffodils, tulips, and bright pansies
He was different
He was strange
He was not at all what you’d expect to find in the modern age
He was friendly
He was sad
He was just the sort of a person who could never get mad at a kid
Oh, a strange one this Anaphora
Wearing that quite odd fedora
If you ever see him around, he’d appreciate a bag of ground
He was different
He was strange
He was not at all what you’d expect to find in the modern age
He was friendly
He was sad
He was just the sort of a person who could never get mad at a kid
